Angry students and staff from Ballyfermot College of Further Education (BCFE) staged a protest recently against the closure of the college crèche at the end of this term, due to cutbacks in funding to the CDVEC (City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee). The affected BCFE students were voiced their outrage when they received the news and said the sudden closure will push them out of the education system. There are 23 pre-school children currently being cared for in the crèche. Their parents, many of them lone-parents, are currently registered on [...]
Original Travolta Masseur Drops Legal Case
Last week, Hollywood was hit with yet another scandal. Actor John Travolta had been accused of sexual harassment by a male masseur, and the plaintiff was looking for $2 million in damages. Since then, three more male masseurs have come forward with similar claims. Today it was revealed that the original accuser, only referred to as John Doe, was dropping the lawsuit. The initial claims by John Doe were highly graphic in detail and had entailed that the assault took place on January 16. He later released a statement claiming [...]

Trinity researchers publish important findings on delerium
New findings from Trinity College Dublin (TCD) researchers studying the neuropsychiatric syndrome of delirium have been published in the Journal of Neuroscience this week, uncovering important interactions between inflammation and brain chemistry that may contribute to its onset. The research relates to the two competing theories of delirium, and may reconcile the two approaches. Delirium is a common psychiatric disorder that manifests as sudden and profound disturbance of attention, memory, and behaviour. Delirium can be caused by many different events, such as an infection, surgery or a change in medication. [...]
Studenty Sunday: Random Edition
Every week Roisin Peddle takes a look at ten stories making the headlines here at Studenty.me. One of the silliest ads around at the moment is the one where the skydive instructor tells his bewildered skydivers to pull on the sheep clock which release their rubber duck and he’ll see them on the cupcake. In this spirit, I present a wide, diverse and even disparate group of articles for your edification this Sunday. (Can they tell I’ve ran out of ideas yet? Well, not if you don’t tell them- Ed). 1.
