Bye Bye Oxegen

Bye Bye Oxegen

Is it any wonder that “Poxegen” has been cancelled? Considering that last year there were 308 drug seizures,  and 90 other arrests, it’s hardly surprising. Having ventured to this festival way back when from 2004-2006, I’m honestly shocked it’s lasted this long. Reasons: 1: Bad organisation! Campsites are SO far from the main arena that sometimes it just isn’t worth it. 2: Early closing: Music STOPS at 11. There is then pretty little to do other than stay in the filthy campsite. 3: Filthy: No bins were provided when I was [...]

Lots to Love but little to hate about Love/Hate

Lots to Love but little to hate about Love/Hate

Once upon a time, The Sopranos took us to the intensely dramatic world of New Jersey crime, with the backstabbing machinations of its characters constantly keeping it fresh. After its glorious eight year reign on television, we were left with a bittersweet taste in our mouths that Boardwalk Empire eventually quenched, 3 years later in 2010. Now, us Dubliners have our own blood-splattered serial of Mobster mayhem adorning our screens, and we can all rejoice in the name of a seriously compelling gangster drama called Love/Hate. With a delicate balance [...]

‘Til Death Do Us Part: Hacksaw Honey Out On Bail

‘Til Death Do Us Part: Hacksaw Honey Out On Bail

Last Friday night, a 36-year old man woke up to find his wife trying to cut his head off with such a Sawzall, a hack saw usually used for cutting large pieces of wood or pipe. ‘Ouch’ is an understatement. Police officers arrived to a blood-stained scene, welcomed by the man screaming, “It was you…It was you…You tried to cut my head off” at his wife. The woman told police she was merely defending herself against an intruder who had broken in, and that he had escaped through the window [...]
