About Róisín Treacy
Hi pals, I'm Róisín! I'm a second year journalism student in DCU, where you’ll usually find me in DCUfm studio, co-heading news bulletins and presenting our current affairs show Newswire. I can also be found there every Wednesday night co-hosting "The Loft" - an entertainment show where myself and my three friends talk about ridiculous things and think we're hilarious! I'm rather fond of the news and I like to write about it sometimes on my blog > roisintreacy4.wordpress.com <Parents warned that students with Facebook accounts could be expelled
Students in an Australian school who are under the age of 13 have been warned that they could be expelled if they do not delete their Facebook accounts. The former brother-in-law of actress-turned-singer, Jennifer Hudson, has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of the actress’ mother, brother and nephew. Jurors deliberated for three days before delivering the guilty verdict. The trial lasted three weeks, with prosecutors calling 83 witnesses to the stand, including Hudson herself. No DNA or finger print evidence directly linked Balfour to the [...]
Procrastination: There is no escape

It was called “Cold Turkey” and at the time, it was the most ingenious thing I had ever heard of. Cold Turkey is an app that blocks social media websites on your computer for a set amount of time. Since this original discovery, several other variations of such a programme have become available like SelfControl [...]

Global Brigades are calling for medicine and nursing students to volunteer and join their medical brigade to Ghana this August. The organisation, which is the world’s largest student-led global health and sustainable development organisation, will be sending a medical brigade to the country for 10 days. Although brigades are generally consist of 15 to 25 people, the medical one which Global Brigades aim to send will be higher due to the area’s demand for nurses and medical assistants. Volunteers interested in participating in the programme must cover their own expenses for [...]
