Recently a video has dominated YouTube. “Gangnam Style” by Psy, a k-pop artist has amassed over 187 million views, and this continues to grow steadily, with no signs of slowing! Of course, this means one thing, and one thing only, lots of parodies. Here’s my pick of the bunch! If you haven’t seen Gangnam Style, scroll to the bottom of the article.

Dublin City University earlier this week sealed a deal with Bank of Ireland for “heavily discounted” student loans for attendees of the college. The loans, aimed for covering the registration fees charged for the college year – currently €2,250 (€9,000 over a 4 year course), will be offered to incoming students and their parents for the next four years of their course. They will be offered at a variable rate of 5.1% – however this will raise to a higher variable rate upon graduation, currently 9.7%. The current rate for [...]
A Love Affair With Books
With the rise of the internet age, a lot of people are getting all technological. The way forward is in computing, gadgetry and technology – pixels are in. As a computing student, of course I love computers. I love getting my hands on new laptops, phones, trying out the newest things, learning new languages for web development and scripting. But, nearly contrasting this, is a love for books. I think I have around 200 books of my own at this point, excluding the books I have grown out of. As [...]
Six Weeks to OMG, I’m Killing My Body
One of the new shock books on the market, “Six Weeks to OMG” has captured the imaginations of women across the UK, and is spreading across the world. “Get skinnier than all your friends,” the front cover declares. After hearing my sister squeaking indignantly at the computer screen, and my mother ranting about how such a book got published, I had a look online myself. Many sites have picked it up, inviting nutritionists in to look at what the book says you should do in order to lose weight. Lose [...]

With the Leaving Cert finished and the CAO deadline looming, how do you decide which college is right for you? It isn’t as hard as it looks, it just takes a lot of research. Here’s some tips to help you make the right choices.
Cows Going Shopping?
Recently, a video has leapt to fame by appearing on Reddit’s video section, attracting viewers from around the world. Uploaded last week, it has over 2,000 views, and shows a cow in an Ennis hardware shop. Not that this is the first – or will it be the last – time that farm animals come onto commercial properties. A video from 2009 has gained 55,000+ views, showing RTÉ news coverage of a bull in SuperValu in Ballinrobe. This is by no means only an Irish trend. Another clip from YouTube [...]
Troubles of the Vertically Challenged
Think about it. That top shelf is easy to reach, right? You can do that without the aid of stools and chairs and all that. But how tall are you? Probably taller than I am. Standing at a measly five foot four, I’ve come to accept that my genes have commanded that I am staying there. Most of my family are around the same stature, and some of my friends are too. However, it may be fun to be all short and sweet, the feeling does not stay sweet. Here’s [...]
