You would probably have to be blind and deaf not to know the budget came out on Wednesday. However, with all the mentions of ‘cuts’ and ‘slashes’ and ‘figures’, it’s hard to know what it all actually means.

Feeling a little delicate this morning? Want to dose yourself with painkillers till your head feels like its normal size? Need to finish that assignment, but you can’t move too far away from the bathroom? We have all been there: the dreaded hangover after the night before. Nature’s payment for having far too much fun and just a few too many jagerbombs. Well, the end may be in sight.
We all like children, right? And we all want them to be protected, right? Then why do we have to have this referendum, you may ask? The children’s referendum proposes a change in the wording of the rights given to children in the constitution; because the constitution can’t be changed without putting the vote to the public, we all have to get out there on the 10th and vote.
The internet has improved all of our lives; there is no doubt of that. In what other time could you consult with world experts and find out detailed and obscure information with the click of a button from your very own home. However, as with all things, the internet has a darker side. Never before could bullies reach out in such a personal way, and make people’s lives–people who they may they may never have met–a complete misery, without fear of retribution or ever being caught. There are many incidences [...]
So, Halloween is just around the corner, and you don’t have a costume. You haven’t the time to make something, and the funds are a bit tight, yes? Here are some fun costume ideas that can be put together in a flash and will leave you looking like you’re a genius or being delightfully ironic. (Just don’t blame me if it all goes wrong!)
There are so many rants on the internet that sometimes it’s hard to believe it contains anything else. However, sometimes the rants as just so special that they go viral and they brighten up everyone’s day because of just how hilarious they are. One man, Richard Neill, recently contacted Bodyform, the feminine product maker, and berated them for leading him astray for all these years about the joy and activities women enjoy during their period. His descriptions of what his girlfriend turns into are particularly hilarious. While particularly descriptive, this man [...]
Week two as the worst volunteer at the Dublin Theatre Festival. At this stage, I’m surprised they even let me help out at all. My main problem is punctuality, but I blame this on overestimating the reliability of Dublin Bus. And by that, I mean assuming it is reliable in any way at all. There seems to be 9s coming out of my ears when I am walking around town, but when I need one it is inevitably 15 minutes away. After finally making it onto a bus, I arrive [...]
There is a certain time of the year when everything seems to come together at exactly the same time. For me, it’s festival season. You are just joyfully (or maybe not so joyfully) settling back to college and then WHAM! Festival season. The Fringe Festival, the Dublin Theatre Festival and don’t forget Culture Night. It’s almost too much for one person.
There were secrets. There were rumours. There were leaks and most of all, there was hype. Apple is one of the companies most associated with secrecy leading up to the unveiling of a new gadget. However this year it has been a little different.
Each year when the new licence plates are printed, the first one of each county goes to the mayor of the city. However, next year the mayor of Dublin’s license plate will read 13-D-1. The mayor is not happy about this. And he is not alone.
