Keep on Strugglin’ – Strugglaz Project play Balcony TV

Well we’ve scored a few nice days here in Ireland so in the spirit of the sunny weather I am reviewing a band with a song called ‘Sunshine’. The band are called ‘Strugglaz Project’. A four piece; Strugglaz Project hail from Portugal and play the bongo, guitar and vocals on their slot on Balcony TV. Strugglaz Project play a range of musical instruments, also playing keyboard and bass; multi-talented guys.

Filmed in Lisboa Strugglaz Project perform their song ‘Sunshine’; a bouncy, summery, funky song. These guys know how to have fun when they play. One of the vocalists dances (with his scarf) while the other raps while bouncing to the rhythm of the song. These guys are people you want at your house party. I love the song; ’Sunshine’ is a perfect summer song while tending the barbeque or when everyone is chilling out at the end of the day. It is a feel-good summer song that everyone will be dancing to.

Strugglaz Project remind me of Mano Chao but cheesier; and cheesy is good. Music is getting too serious lately; guys with poetic lyrics and Zoolander poses really (as Peter Griffin would put it) grind my gears. Strugglaz just have fun; they are what music should be about.

‘The sun is shining…..’; pure and simple lyrics (don‘t ask me to translate the rest!). Okay these guys are cool, they are wearing ’cool’ hats, scarves, sunglasses and pulling off a ‘look’; but they are having fun and playing good music; bottom-line.

It’s hard to get more information on these guys as most of their pages are in Portuguese but check them out on Balcony TV. Keep on Struggling.
