Bin Laden film trailer released

The first trailer of a film about the hunt for Osama Bin Laden has been released. The film is said to be titled ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ and is directed by Kathryn Bigelow; with screenplay by Mark Boal. Both Bigelow and Boal were involved in the film Hurt Locker (another military film).

The trailer includes quotes from the film; “no birth certificate, no cell phone; the guy’s a ghost”. It is also described in the trailer as ‘the story you think you know’. The trailer basically tells us how hard it was for the U.S forces to track down Bin Laden and that this film will tell us all we need to know. It is very hyped up; ‘the whole world’s gonna wanna know this’. “Where was the last time you saw Bin Laden?” is also screamed a few times (for good measure). We are also told in the trailer that the US have spent so much money tracking Bin Laden down; “we are spending billions of dollars….we are still no closer to defeating our enemy”.

Where do I start? I am shocked (but yet not) that the American government would be involved in making a film about capturing Bin Laden. Apparently Obama gave Bigelow top-level access to the mission for the benefit of the film; a classified mission. Fair play to Obama for giving Hollywood access to a mission that would endanger national security; all in the name of the movies. Conspiracy theorists will have a field day on this one.

Bin Laden was killed in May 2011 in Pakistan; as we are told by U.S forces. He was then taken to Afghanistan for identification and (weirdly) buried at sea within 24 hours of his death. I don’t know about you, but I do not believe everything I am told.

A movie was bound to come out about it sometime I suppose. Atleast the film is released after the elections, right Obama?

The title of the film ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ is a military way of saying sometime in the middle of the night; plus it makes the film sound super cool; just like America.

The cast is said to include; Jessica Chastain, Joel Edgerton, Edgar Ramirez and Mark Strong. It was shot in India and is being released in America on December 19th and in the UK on January 25th of next year. I cannot wait for the red carpet premier.
