Customers resort to armed robbery to withdraw cash at Ulster Bank

AN ARMED RAIDER has made off with a cashbox after threatening staff at an Ulster Bank branch in Co. Down.
The robbery took place at around 10.50am yesterday morning in the Upper Square area of Castlewellan.
A man entered the bank with a firearm and threatened staff before making off with the cash.
The PSNI is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or was in the area at the time to contact detectives at Downpatrick.

Security guards have been posted in all Ulster Bank branches to deal with angry customers. So far such incidents have been isolated, but as Ulster Bank’s IT fiasco gets set to enter its fourth week, management are concerned for the safety of branch staff.
