UCD Law Ball – Successful ad campaign goes viral

The UCD Law Society have come up with a novel, and successful way to promote their upcoming Ball. The students, with the professional help of the creators of Marryokes.com, have created a promotional video which has achieved unprecedented success.

Studenty talked to Ciara Hickey-Johnson about the advertising campaign,

“The video is a promo for our ball and was intended to be played before lectures and to be circulated via social media sites. We recorded it last Tuesday in the UCD Law School at Roebuck Castle, and we got some of the lecturers and staff in the law school to partake.”

The marryoke-style video features students and staff from the school, miming to Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day” while reinacting the story of Cinderella going to the Law Ball.

“The video went live in Saturday and despite trying to keep it underwraps for the weekend, we ended up having to launch it as people had found it online. Since then we’ve had nearly 13,000 views. We’ve been delighted with the reaction and could never have predicted that it would take off like this!”

The UCD Law Ball takes place on the 7th February in Clontarf Castle. Tickets: €70 are available from Roebuck Castle.

About Donna

Following a lengthy and consuming obsession with Micheal Bay’s 1998 epic, Armageddon, I believed myself destined to become an astronaut up until the healthy age of twenty. When the reality of calculus and the seemingly unspoken rule that all physicists have to wear brown hit me, I opted for a glamorous crash landing out of the field of astrophysics, and into the world of fashion journalism. With a penchant for all things 1950’s, and a love of Vogue, anything pretty, spotty and leopard print, I have a unique style that falls somewhere in the middle of a Bet Lynch and Edwina Monsoon impersonator. My fashion sense may also be influenced by knowingly bad taste in music, and the odd Taking Back Sunday tee does unashamedly decorate my floordrobe. While keeping you up to date with all things sartorial – high fashion, low fashion and the bits in the middle, I aim to deliver a blog with a difference. There will be no photos of me wearing belts I bought in Urban Outfitters. Instead, I shall aim to be the Penneys of your blogosphere – making fashion cheap, colourful and accessible to everyone.
