I just came to say hello! (Que. catchy music)

Hello people of the intrewebs! My name is Johnny B (some of you may want to call me “papa” but don’t! You’re estranged for a reason!). Below you’ll see a video where we get properly acquainted. It’s not a long video and there isn’t a whole pile of stuff in it , but hey I thought it may be a good idea to generate a bit of interest, maybe get you excited, build your hopes up, make some promises and then eventually let you down . Anywho! Below is the [...]

Celebrity alter egos: brilliant or a load of bull?

Sometimes musicians are so overflowing with inspiration that they need to create a whole other persona to house it all. This can result in absolutely amazing work – think of Beyonce and Sasha Fierce, or The Beatles and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Unfortunately for others, it can so easily go horribly wrong. For every Marilyn Manson, there is an Xtina. For every Slim Shady, there is a Mimi (that’s Mariah Carey’s alter ego, folks.) Here are some of the best celebrity alter egos…  Jo Calderone/Yuyi the Mermaid/Mother Monster Lady [...]

I Like my Music With Cheese, Please ….

The 1990s and very early 2000s was a great time for pop music. It was a great time for a lot of things actually, but that’s another blog post. After experiencing quite a ‘sexed-up’ period in the ’80s, with Madonna and her ilk prancing about in wedding dresses, pop music clearly decided that it needed a break. To go to rehab, if you will, and reform itself. Pop music throughout the ’90s was like a big bowl of sunshine. Everyone smiled a lot. Everyone wore a lot of orange. Everyone [...]

Straight to the Points…

While it was ‘up, up and beyond’ for the majority of post-leaving certificate students last week, others were faced with less than satisfactory results, particularly those who took the bullet fired by the Education system in the dramatic increase of selected courses.

Time to Abstain from Sex and the City?

It’s been an entire year since the Sex and the City ladies last adorned our screens; a year that has been inundated with rumors, gossip and outcries from fans all over the world regarding the risqué possibility of taking Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte for a third (and hopefully final) outing. With endless interviews confirming then denying production of a third installment, it is only natural to assume this long-running HBO series has come to an end, albeit on an undeserving yet overwhelmingly negative note. The last time Carrie Bradshaw [...]

Life After Uni

Last week was the one that most of us students dread. Results week. We’ve chewed our fingernails to the bone, tried to keep our sober moments to a minimum and told our Mams and Dads that we an’t worried one little bit. We lied. We were worried as hell. And even though everyone in the family has focused on our diploma or degree results, we are actually more worried about life after uni. PLENTY OF OPTIONS Graduate Opportunities Many of the corporate heavy-weights like Google, EMC, Facebook, Cisco, Big Fish [...]

Beware of shifting randoms on campus

In college there are plenty of opportunities for interactions with the opposite sex. Many of us come to university from single sex schools so the mere sight of the opposite sex (or same sex if that’s what you like) in the lecture hall or around campus can cause a lot of excitement. Even those of us who have been lucky enough to attend mixed schools will, naturally, get a bit giddy at the prospect of fresh meat. College is new universe of possibilities for us students and I’m not talking [...]
